The Mary P. Dolciani Professor of Mathematics Endowment
In 2008, The Mary P. Dolciani Halloran Foundation created an endowment at Hunter College, City University of New York to establish the Mary P. Dolciani Professor of Mathematics. The intent of establishing a named professorship in the Hunter College Department of Mathematics is to continue Dr. Dolciani's commitment to improving the effectiveness of learning and would be consistent with her zest for moving mathematics forward in an innovative and fluid learning environment.
Candidates are chosen on the basis of their distinguished scholarship, citizenship, excellence in teaching and reputation in the field of mathematics.
The first Dolciani Professorship is held by Dr. Olga Kharlampovich. She holds a Ph.D. from the Leningrad State University and a Russian Doctor of Science degree from the Moscow Steklov Institute. Dr. Kharlampovich taught at McGill University in Montreal since 1990 and has made numerous contributions to significant research and publications. She was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal from the Soviet Academy of Sciences.
